  • Developed the first Biomimicking, personalised heart valve in the world, currently in testing in the USA
  • Developed a non-traumatic endoscopic camera for heart surgery
  • Wrote the first dedicated, global, minimally invasive heart surgery book, featuring QR codes
  • Developed new surgical tools for heart surgery
  • Did the first holographic/holography-guided heart surgery in the world
  • Established a world class heart surgery simulation training centre in Singapore
  • Beating heart-mitral valve in Singapore
  • The first-in-the-world implantation of the Vein-Mesh to prevent bypass graft occlusion
  • Introduction of the minimally invasive heart valve operation programme (both arrested and beating heart)
  • Establishment of the Robotic Cardiac Surgery Programme
  • Introduced Sutureless Valves for the first time in the SEA region and operated patients with positive outcomes
  • Introduced the Endoclamp in Singapore and operated another series of patients, with positive outcomes
  • Introduced the Thoraflex total arch replacement system in Singapore, to facilitate hybrid surgeries with the vascular team
  • Introduced the single incision minimally invasive cardiac surgery, worldwide, a totally novel, NUHS concept (published in the global CTS network)
  • Conceived and performed the first minimally invasive combined procedure on the heart, through the same keyhole (published in the global CTS network)
  • Introduced the CorKnot technology in Asia, an automated knot tying device which facilitates minimally invasive procedures and shortens other open heart surgeries
  • The first Ferrazzi LV-reshaping procedure in Singapore (Straits Times)
  • Performed the first 3D cardiac surgery in Asia
